10 Irobot Vacuum-Friendly Habits To Be Healthy

The iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Robot vacuums eliminate pet hair, lint and dust from the floor before they settle. They also can avoid obstacles like stairs and other obstructions, including tippy furniture.

Most robotic vacuums require regular maintenance. This includes emptying the bin (and sometimes, rinsing it) and wiping the sensors and cameras. They also need to be connected. Many have smartphone apps to schedule, adjust settings, and more.

iRobot Roomba 980

The iRobot Roomba 980, the most recent of a series of top-of-the-line robot vacuums, is an essential for any modern home. This model has seriously strong suction and a HEPA filter that can help anyone concerned about allergies. It also has a powerful battery which can clean for two hours and returns to its dock automatically once the bin is full.

Smart mapping is another feature that helps it identify areas in your home that require attention and creates an easy path to get around them. We've seen this technology in action and it does an excellent job of maneuvering around toys that are left scattered on the floor or furniture legs that stick out of the ground. It also comes with a sensor that can snap Roomba back to reality when it begins to move away from its original location.

iRobot has also included a set of rollers underneath the Roomba which do not have bristles and are therefore more likely to avoid knots than earlier models. They're also a bit higher than the older rollers and are able to fit under beds and couches with low sides and are designed to allow this model to move more easily on varying flooring types.

The Roomba 980 differs from other high-end models by its new dirt detection feature, which makes use of a camera in order to detect dirt embedded. This is an improvement over the previous version that relied on the use of a sensor-driven pseudorandom cover to bounce around the room, and then clean everything three times at different angles.

In our tests of its performance it was found that the Roomba 980 did well on carpets and hard flooring. Its score on low pile carpet was excellent and it scored a excellent score on mid pile, too. It did a good job picking up pet hair but struggled with long and thick pet hair that was stuck together.

Despite these minor shortcomings, the Roomba 980 remains one of our top-performing robots, and it's not even close to being as expensive as some of the other top models on this list. It's still packed with a variety of features that we'd like to see in a top-of-the-line model, but it doesn't have all the fancy app-enabled functions or smart home integration that you'll find in other top contenders.

The iRobot Roomba is simple to set up and get working immediately. After taking the yellow bin insert and the battery pull tab from its undercarriage it is simply connected to the wall socket or one of its Home Base docking stations, press the "Clean button" and let it do the work. It will return to the dock when it is running out of battery or becomes full of sand. There are also  robotvacuummops  on top that indicate the bin is empty, when it requires recharging, or when it loses Wi-Fi.
